Service to our Country Spans the Generations 5/09/2008
When Jesse Henderson joined the Military, the Texas National Guard, the entire family activated. PFC Henderson deployed in the summer of 2007 and his Grandparents, Les and Bernita Westenburg dug their boots in deeper to serve and support not only Jesse, but many other Service Members and families as well.
As core volunteers for the Texas based non-profit United We Serve, Les and Bernita serve faithfully in the United We Serve Retreat and Conference Center kitchen each month during Family Boot Camp, a weekend retreat offered to Service Members and their families to offer not only a bit of rest and relaxation, but many resources to fill the gaps during long deployments. Jesse and his family enjoyed spending time at the retreat center during his mid-term R&R during the holidays.
